Annabel Sutherland followed her century in the second ODI with an all-round effort in the third as Australia secured a 2-0 series win against New Zealand in Wellington. Besides her 43-ball 42, Australia rode on a couple of other batting efforts, with Phoebe Litchfield laying the platform at the top (50 off 59) and Ashleigh Gardner (74 off 62) swiftly consolidating in the middle.
After an 88-run opening stand, Australia fell to 127/4, bringing Sutherland and Gardner together for an innings-reviving fifth-wicket stand worth 63 runs. Once Sutherland departed in the 32nd over, Australia added just 100 more runs to lose the remainder of their line-up. They posted a challenging 290 which New Zealand fell well short of.
Sutherland then provided the first incision with the wicket of Isabella Rose James to put the brakes on a quick start and then dismissed half-centurion Suzie Bates to rattle the hosts. From this point on, New Zealand struggled despite their batters getting starts as Alana King picked three middle-order scalps. Sutherland then took out Isabella Gaze to leave New Zealand down to 196/7 in the 40th over. New Zealand lasted only three and a half more overs as they folded for 215.
