New South Wales vs South Australia

Daniel Hughes's 139 had New South Wales on the brink of a win but with 15 needed off 15 balls, Nathan McSweeney deflected the ball onto the stumps in his followthrough and ran out the batter. Mayhem followed and NSW found themselves on the losing side by eight runs.

Until that point, it had looked all good for NSW who were cruising while chasing 331. Hughes's fellow opener and captain Kurtis Patterson had added 76 runs for the first wicket before another 81-run stand with Moises Henriques. There was a bit of a turmoil in the middle when 4 wickets fell for 54 runs but Hughes's presence at the crease looked set to take NSW past the line.

Earlier in the day, SA posted an imposing 330/5 after being put in to bat. Nathan McSweeney, this time with the bat, contributed with a 94 before being caught off the bowling of Liam Hatcher. Thomas Kelly's 53* off 34 lower down the order then helped them get past 300 and put on a big total.
